Pro Evolution Soccer on the Wii

I thought I would write this post to warn Pro fans about the Wii’s version of the most popular football game around. If you have previously played the Playstation or Xbox version and thought you would get it for your Wii there is one thing you should be aware of, and that’s the big difference in game play.

After watching Mr Wright and Mr Owen parade the game as if it was the best thing since slice bread I felt obliged to give it a try.

The in game menu and game options are basically the same which was a relief and I was very happy with the graphics.

I then started to play the game! Already knowing that I would have to control all the players on the pitch I was prepared for a slight difference. “Slight” is a big understatement!

Having motion sensor controls where the user has to point and click to control the players on the pitch makes playing Pro on the Wii very impractical.

The game play on the Wii is terrible. It took me about half an hour to execute a decent pass. I then had to master moving players into the right area. In such a highly paced game you really do need about 3 hands and 3 controllers to get the maximum effect out of the game.

The whole point of the Wii was to make the user feel like they are actually playing the game. Take tennis for example, when I play tennis I clear the living room and swing the ball as if I was Federrer himself. If Nintendo was serious about bringing out a motion sensor football game they should have had some sensors which are placed on your foot! Any other concept for a motion sensor football game is not really football. Nintendo should of just supplied us with a normal control pad to accompany the traditional Pro game play.

So if you are thinking about going out to buy the Wii version I would suggest playing on one of your friends computers before buying.
